  This is great news, however, I still think paying Apple $99/yr for a developer license is ridiculous. Google's $25 registration fee is reasonable. Another reason I dislike Apple.

  I know but you don't need it until you actually have to test the application on the device.

  Do you know if you can test it locally on your device without paying?

  You can build and test your application in the emulator but the second you need to test it on a device you will need a developer license. There are some things that you can not emulate like the Camera. In that case you will need to do some kind of mocking and that is what I need to work on next

  I take that back... I just heard Serge in a presentation say that you can generate a self signed certificate for testing. I am not sure how to do that but it can be done. You will need the certificate if you plan on publishing your application to the app store though.
