My name is Daniel Anthony Vega and I am 32 year old guy from Cleveland OH. I am a single guy who values his family above all else. I am the oldest of four children and I have two brothers and a sister. I have a nice little two bedroom apartment here in Cleveland on the border of Lakewood. I live right across from Edgewater Park which is really cool because I love to be outside.
I try to stay in shape working out during the week at the gym and running outside whenever I get the chance. Most weekends you will find me hanging out with friends, catching a ball game or working on side projects. I am really big fan of poker and make way out to Vegas at least 1x a year. With a passion for programming I need to constantly be on top of new technologies. I am buying new books on a monthly basis, scanning the blog sphere and attending conferences whenever I have the chance.
In high school I was always big on math and science, quite frankly it was the only subjects I really enjoyed. Throughout school I was really big on my mechanical drawing classes and always thought I would end up college to purse engineering. Young and stupid I thought it would be more fun to party then go to college. Right out of high school the internet came onto the scene. It was from the point that I really got turned on to computers.
I decided to head to a small 2 year technical college to purse my interest in computers. The next two years of my life were pretty tough. I would work 10-12 hours a day and go to school at night. My dream of becoming a programmer though really pushed me through it. After school I took a job with a startup out of San Francisco with a company named Five 9. I would start out in technical support and eventually take over the web site. Most everything at the company was Java based and our web was no different. The site was written in Java using the Struts framework. Eventually I was tired of living so far from all of my family and friends that I decided to move home. Though I was excited to move back home it was not easy, I loved that city and made some really great friends there.
For the next four years of my life I would work for a small software company, Letterine. I actually done business with the company before on a consulting basis and this is where I really started learning ColdFusion. The owner of the company got me started with it and I have loved it ever since. It was a great four years and we worked on some really cool projects but it was time to move on to a bigger company.
I now work for STERIS and couldn’t be happier. I have been there for the last 2.5 years and currently hold the title of Senior Web Developer. I am not only lucky to have a great job but I work for a pretty awesome company. We work on a variety of projects there and they are supportive of me furthering my education by sending me to conferences and training classes.
